What is RSS?
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a format
which allows us to more easily and dynamically share new content with
you. Content from our RSS feed can be seamlessly integrated into your
browser or website to keep you and your users up to date on the latest Career
Center news. Receive the latest information about:
- Jobs
- Interviews
- Workshops
- Orientations
Webmasters
RSS allows webmasters the ability to place the
latest Career Center news content on their site with no management or updating
hassles. The RSS feed from the Career Center automatically keeps the
information up-to-date so you don't have to! All it takes is a few lines
of code to provide your users with real-time information that is important
to them.
Users
RSS is not just for webmasters. With an
RSS-aware browser such as Mozilla Firefox, Opera, or Safari (sorry
Internet Explorer users, you'll have to wait until version 7.0), you can
integrate up-to-date Career Center information directly into your browser.
It may sound complicated, but Mozilla's instructional Live Bookmark
page makes it as simple as adding any other bookmark.
If you do not have an RSS-aware browser, you can still subscribe to our
service by dragging this orange button:
or pasting the URL of our news feed (http://careercenter.tamu.edu/index.rss)
into a separate News Reader program.
Google
The folks at Google labs have introduced a feature
allowing users to customize their Google homepage. By creating a
Google account at www.google.com/ig,
you can add live RSS feeds to your Google homepage and have customized access to
the information that is important to you.
To add the Career Center RSS feed to your Google homepage, simply log in to
www.google.com/ig and click "add
content." This opens a side menu with several categories. Click
"Create a Section" and paste the URL from our feed (http://careercenter.tamu.edu/index.rss)
into the box. Now you can be updated on Career Center news every time you
visit Google!
